Welcome!

Hi there and welcome to Freebie Hunters! One of our favorite pastimes in Second Life is scouting the grid for fantastic hunts, sales, events and gifts from all the wonderful creators. We thought we'd share the wealth and showcase some of our finds in this blog, with an emphasis on the goodies available in various SL events and hunts. We do our best to show ALL items from a hunt/event and in the manner the creator intended, but this is not always possible.

***UPDATE August, 2018- We are still finding freebie/nearly free items to share with you, but due to RL time constraints, a lot of what we find is being posted solely on Flickr. If you would like to follow the events being posted there, here is a link to the album page for our account: Flickr Albums. These are not blog posts, but simply pictures of the gifts available. Thank you!

Thank You to all of the creators!

Steam: The Hunt 5, pt. 2

Steam 5
Here we go with part 2 of our posts on the Steam 5 Hunt. This is a fantastic collection of imaginative stores filled with all kinds of steampunk delights. Many of the stores have mini hunts and quests you must complete before getting to the final prize, so this is not a hunt to try to whip through on a weekend. Take your time, enjoy the stores and the puzzles the designers have created for you and explore these intriguing shops. It was really nice in this segment of the hunt to see some familiar faces and a few new ones. All too often, it is the same bunch of stores over and over, so finding a hunt with such a diversity of places taking part is a real pleasure. You have until the end of the month to finish the hunt, so grab your favorite hunt buddies and have a great time!

Cheers, and Happy Hunting!

  1. Did you forget to finish this hunt? You have two posts and not all of the hunt gifts are listed.. Are you going to finish this hunt or leave it behind?

  2. We didn't forget, and we are not obligated to show the entire hunt in any event. Frankly, I got a little tired of the hunt by the end. Too many forced "minihunts" where you have no option but to follow their path of notecards from place to place all over the sim before finally getting to a gift and LM to the next location. If a store wants a minihunt, more power to them, but the hunter should have the option of doing the extras or not, rather than having to run in circles from notecard to notecard. We did finish Steam, but I am not sure if we will be posting the rest or not.

  3. Amen to THAT. Shopkeepers who force a hunter to jump through all kinds of hoops are not entertaining, but tiresome. I like freebies and love exploring steam shops but frankly some gifts are not worth the effort. Seems the cheesier the gift, the more hoops. You know who you are, Golden Oriole. :-)
