Hi there and welcome to Freebie Hunters! One of our favorite pastimes in Second Life is scouting the grid for fantastic hunts, sales, events and gifts from all the wonderful creators. We thought we'd share the wealth and showcase some of our finds in this blog, with an emphasis on the goodies available in various SL events and hunts. We do our best to show ALL items from a hunt/event and in the manner the creator intended, but this is not always possible.

***UPDATE August, 2018- We are still finding freebie/nearly free items to share with you, but due to RL time constraints, a lot of what we find is being posted solely on Flickr. Under the Sea Expo


Some of the most beautiful bits of SL are the underwater sims dedicated to sealife, mermaids and all things fantastically ocean-related. To celebrate that part of SL, Oceania Breedables is hosting the Under the Sea Expo @ the Hanalei sim.

About 25 or so designers have come together and are offering a variety of oceanic items for your shopping pleasure, as well as a hunt event during the Under The Sea Expo. Each designer has contributed a gift for the hunt. The hunt is simple - teleport to the Expo location, click the starter shell and begin your guided tour around the sim in search of Alina's Lost Pearls.

The Expo runs from June 20th until June 26th, so this is one you might want to do right away if you are interested. We were lucky enough to score blogger status for the event and get a sneek peek at some of the goodies on sale and hidden as hunt gifts to share with you here on the blog. The sim is gorgeous - underwater statues, sunken ships and even a few sharks lurking about.

Because of the short duration of the event, expect the sim to be crowded - if you can't teleport in, just keep trying as there is a chance of the sim reaching its avatar limits. Also, be kind to each other and dress as low lag as possible to help ensure the most pleasurable exploration possible.


This is a limited time event, so be sure to come by before it's over!
