Welcome!

Hi there and welcome to Freebie Hunters! One of our favorite pastimes in Second Life is scouting the grid for fantastic hunts, sales, events and gifts from all the wonderful creators. We thought we'd share the wealth and showcase some of our finds in this blog, with an emphasis on the goodies available in various SL events and hunts. We do our best to show ALL items from a hunt/event and in the manner the creator intended, but this is not always possible.

***UPDATE August, 2018- We are still finding freebie/nearly free items to share with you, but due to RL time constraints, a lot of what we find is being posted solely on Flickr. If you would like to follow the events being posted there, here is a link to the album page for our account: Flickr Albums. These are not blog posts, but simply pictures of the gifts available. Thank you!

Thank You to all of the creators!

Medieval Fantasy Hunt VIII

MEDIEVAL FANTASY HUNT VIII

The Medieval Fantasy Hunt VIII runs from March 1-31, and has 55 merchants offering a variety of medieval, Gorean, and elfen/fae prizes. All but one of the locations have prizes suitable for both male and female full sized avatars (clothing, jewelry, and tatoo merchants provide both male and female versions of their prizes), while a few stores which normally cater to the new petite mesh avatars have both petite and full-sized prizes available. There are some terrific prizes on this hunt to reward the tireless and careful hunter, but be warned that the hunt is very challenging at a number of the locations.

Clues are available on the hunt blog but not always from the hint giver signs at the landing spots. All of the hints on the blog are provided in both German and English, but the English versions are often inexpertly done translations and can be extremely vague. Keep in mind also that hunt objects are frequently renamed and are flat-prims with alpha that can only be spotted from the correct viewing angle. One other challenging aspect is that there seems to be no limit to how far from the landing spot the prize can be located. Although some merchants do provide a hunt path trail to start you off in the correct direction, there are a number of locations where you are on your own to wander an entire region looking for something that goes with the clue. Even so, this hunt has so many high quality useful prizes it is well worth the time spent. Cheers, and Happy Hunting!
