Welcome!

Hi there and welcome to Freebie Hunters! One of our favorite pastimes in Second Life is scouting the grid for fantastic hunts, sales, events and gifts from all the wonderful creators. We thought we'd share the wealth and showcase some of our finds in this blog, with an emphasis on the goodies available in various SL events and hunts. We do our best to show ALL items from a hunt/event and in the manner the creator intended, but this is not always possible.

***UPDATE August, 2018- We are still finding freebie/nearly free items to share with you, but due to RL time constraints, a lot of what we find is being posted solely on Flickr. If you would like to follow the events being posted there, here is a link to the album page for our account: Flickr Albums. These are not blog posts, but simply pictures of the gifts available. Thank you!

Thank You to all of the creators!

Matsuri 2017

MATSURI2017 poster

October is crammed with almost more stuff to do in terms of SL events than any other month in the year (except maybe December), and this October is no exception. I have some big events planned to cover through this month, but I didn't want to let the Matsuri Mall 2017 event slip past. This is brought to you by the same people who put together the Creators Collection Box events and they have a couple twists in how this event runs.

When you arrive at the village, there is a great map you can check out to see all the amenities offered on the sim: shopping, a temple, restaurant and more. The mall area has all kinds of asian-themed shopping, from clothing to home decor, as well as some really great gachas if you like to try your luck. One thing you want to be looking for as you shop are the items and gachas tagged as "Stamp Rally" items. These are special - if you purchase an item or play a gacha with that tag on it, you get a Stamp Rally hud along with your item.

Once you get a hud and put it on, you'll see it has space for 15 stamps plus a button that opens a window with the list of participating stores. Visit 15 of the stores (there are 20 on the list), find the hud stamper in each store and click it to get your hud stamped. When you have 15 stamps, go back to the Matsuri Mall and head over to the temple area. There is a board set up in the temple area with the 20 store logos and an image of a gift below it. You can exchange your full hud at the temple (there are tables where you rez the hud, click the handle and the gift options light up) for any one of the items. (Pro tip - do your shopping first and unpack to collect all your Stamp Rally cards. You can wear more than 1 at a time when you visit the shops and get them all stamped at the same time.)

Each completed Stamp Rally hud earns you one gift choice. The official blog has instructions in both japanese and english, as well as photos of all the potential gifts you can earn with the Stamp Rally huds.

And if you *still* can't get enough of the Matsuri event, check out their blog for a schedule of dance and performance shows scheduled to occur during the month.
