Gotham Island Halloween Event 2017, p.6

You lucky ducks - I have just enough goodies for one more post about the fabulous Gotham Island Halloween Event going on right now! Unless you have been living under a rock since the start of the month, you have been reading about this event here and in a ton of other blogs, destination guides and in-world groups, so you know already what it's about. For those of you who ARE rock-dwellers, here is the cliffnotes version:

- This is a charity event to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. There is a link below to the Creations Park website, and they have some wonderful information about Parkinson's, the Foundation and other stuff you might find interesting concerning the how and why's of this event happening.

- There are dozens of designers participating in the event, with many exclusive and special items designated as charity items so that the price of your purchases goes to the MJF Foundation. This is a great way to support the charity while treating yourself to a little something at the same time.

- For the treasure minded, there is a hunt going on as well. You are looking for candy corns hidden in the shops and surrounding areas, each for 10L and each with a special gift.

- For the thrill seekers, there is a midway filled with rides, a haunted house, an abandoned asylum and even a creepy cemetary to explore.

- There is also a stage area which has been hosting live shows and DJs - more information about the schedules can be found at the venue or through the official blog.

The event runs through the end of the month, so if you have not yet dropped in to check things out, I strongly recommend it - there is a lot to see and do and it's always a bonus when you can hang out, have a good time, and help a worthy charity in one fell swoop.

Gotham Island Halloween Event 2017, p.5

As promised, here is another look at just a few of the many exclusives/hunt prizes you can find this month during the amazing Gotham Island Halloween Event.  I've been writing up this event in the last few posts, so I'm sure you are aware that this event is raising money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease.  This is an excellent cause, a legitimate charity, and if you have ever known or currently know someone who is suffering from Parkinson's, you know how important the research being done for better treatments or hopefully one day, a cure, actually is for these people. A few lindens spent shopping doesn't seem like much all by itself, but when you add them all up, this is a chance for the SL community to really do something good.

And, of course, the fine folks behind the scenes have made this a fun event.  Aside from the shopping (so many stores!), there is a hunt going on - you are looking for little candy corns hidden inside the shops and all around the sim.  They have a stage area set up for DJs to do some sets, there is a midway filled with amusement park rides, and even a haunted house, cemetery and abandoned asylum to explore.  There is a lot to do and see, so be sure to fit a visit into your October schedule.  You really don't want to miss out!

Gotham Island Halloween Event 2017, p.4

I'm back with another look at more of the lovely exclusive and hunt items you can find at the Gotham Island Halloween Event. This event runs for the whole month, so if you haven't had a chance to drop by and check it out yet, you still have plenty of time.

Second Life is filled with haunted houses, halloween-theme sales, and all kinds of spooky fun stuff this month, but this is definitely an event you will not want to miss as you take in all that the grid has to offer.  Money raised during the event will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease, so whatever you spend (or donate) while you make your way through the dozens of shops, explore the abandoned asylum or the haunted house, take a jaunt through the creepy cemetery or just go thrill-seeking on the midway will be going to a great cause.  If you are not familiar with the Foundation or Parkinson's Disease, there is a wealth of information on the official blog (link below).

Gotham Island Halloween Event 2017, p.3

We are one week into the Gotham Island Event, and I have a whole new batch of goodies to share from the so-generous designers who are participating in the event. In case you haven't yet heard about this particular October fun fest, this is a charity event raising money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. This event is huge - there are shopping areas, silent auctions, raffles, a hunt for candy corns, a midway filled with amusement rides, a stage area where DJs have been doing sets, a haunted house, a cemetery and even an abandoned asylum, making this a one-stop good time no matter what you enjoy doing in SL.

I have been lucky enough to score some of the event exclusives and some of the hunt prizes (and will continue to post throughout the month, so be sure to check back now and then!), but there are tons and tons more for you to discover on your own as you take a walk through the various shops and displays.

The focus of the event is to raise money to donate to Parkinson's research and you would be amazed how quickly all those lindens add up to real, substantial amounts of money - so even if you just see one item you like or if you just want to make a donation to this worthy cause, please do head over to sim and check them out. There are donation jars here and there on site for those who wish to donate without making a purchase. Gotham Island Halloween Event 2017, p.2

I'm back with a few more items from the Gotham Island event raising money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. That is a gigantic mouthful of a title for an amazing charity event going on during the month of October here in Second Life. The staff behind the event have really pulled out all the stops in making this a must-visit event. I was fortunate enough to get to wander around the event before it opened to the public (yay for no crowds!) and they have put together a gorgeous venue.

You land in the shopping district, which is full of stores and the raffle/silent auction areas. There are maps at several locations throughout the event, and you can check them for where to find your favorite stores. Also, they have kind of split the designers into fashion related stores on one side and home decor type stuff on the other. That makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for. I did not get a chance yet to investigate the asylum or haunted house, but I did take a walk through the cemetery and midway. Halloween in SL is one of my favorite times and being able to combine exploring spooky places with shopping makes the event something you can enjoy whether you are flying solo or with a group - there is so much to see and do, it would be easy to spend a few hours there just checking everything out.

Did I mention there is a hunt too, as if all the other stuff going on wasn't enough? The designers have put out candy corn - some in their shops, some scattered around the sim, all filled with goodies for those of you who love the challenge of finding the sneaky bits of candy. The hunt items are 10L, but the money is for a good cause and from what I have seen, the designers have come up with some really creative gifts for you to find. I will continue posting about the event throughout the month as I get more goodies to share with you. Hope to see you there supporting this great event!

Gotham Island Halloween Event 2017, p.1

October is a hugely busy month in Second Life, filled with all kinds of events, Halloween specials, haunted houses and activities. One of the events you will not want to miss out on is the Gotham Island Event at Creations Park being held to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. Many of us know or have a family member/friend who suffers from Parkinson's and this is an awesome way to help donate to research efforts and have a good time enjoying all the fun this time of year brings.

The event is hosting a ton of stuff to do and see, so plan to spend a little time while you visit. There is a mall area set up with dozens of designers from all over Second Life. They have some pretty amazing things for sale, including exclusives for the event, many of which will not be sold after the event ends.  Proceeds from the sales go to the research foundation.

Additionally, there is a hunt (you are looking for candy corn, each for 10L) and the hunt items can be found in the shops and areas around the sim. There are raffles and silent auctions to enjoy, as well as DJs playing sets from the stage area. Given the time of year, you can also find a haunted house, an asylum and a cemetery to explore or you can get your thrills with a visit to the midway. I've included a copy of the sim map and there are also maps in various locations throughout the sim to help you get around.

Throughout the month I will be posting peeks at some of the exclusives and hunt gifts you can find at the event, but please remember the important thing here is not what you can get from this event, but the good work that will be made possible by the donations from your purchases. Parkinson's Disease impacts a lot of people and the research being done to find better treatment options and potentially a cure for this illness is definitely a worthy cause.
